EFS Class visits Clean Ways & Recycling
On Sept. 25, members of Burrell High School's Environmental Field Study took a field trip to Westmorland Clean Ways and Recycling to learn how every day materials are collected, sorted, and reused. Students toured the facility, saw how items like glass, plastic, cardboard, and electronics are processed, and learned why proper recycling is so important.
"It really opened my eyes to what happens after we throw something in the recycling bin," said Senior Cam Baker
The class plans to use what they learned to improve recycling efforts at school and inspire others to help protect the environment.

EFS gets the Buzz on Bees
Burrell's Environmental Field Study class took their second field trip on Oct. 9th. They visited Great Latrobe High School to learn about different lifestyles in the wild. This trip was part of the collaboration between EFS and the GLHS Environmental Capstone project. Student's got the chance to get into a stream nearby and look for living organism's. Student's also held a frame with thousands of bees.
