Its the last 9 weeks of the 2024-2025 school year, and the school just implemented a new system called hall passes for all underclassmen. How it works is that either the student or teacher can fill out a slot every time a student leaves a room. The signed hall pass allows students to be in the hall five times per period, whether it is for the bathroom, water fountain, office, or nurse. This is an easy way to know which kids are in and out of class and prevents kids from being out of a room for an unnecessary amount of time or in a different place than where they signed out to.
There are mixed opinions from students. The Seniors don't care about the new system because they aren't affected since they are exempt from hall passes. On the other hand, Junior, Sophomores, and Freshmen have mixed feelings about it. A lot of students don't feel affected because they don't use the restroom that much anyway. But the kids that are usually out for an extended period of time are the ones upset. Here are what some individual people had to say Junior Robert Burford said he doesn't like the new system, but added, "What can you do about it?" Another student Junior Nick Blackwell does not seem to affected by hall passes, "I don't care because I still get to go when I want to."
Many Junior girls also weighed in on hall passes stating they wish they had unlimited spaces. They didn't mind having to get them signed, but thought the five isn't really enough. They also voiced a concern that the students who abuse the freedom of leaving the room, should be the ones who have hall passes. That way, the students, who respect their time outside of the classroom and go where they are supposed to, can still have freedom.
