Deciding what to bring to college can be a very stressful situation. It is important to remember to pack what you need. If you don't use it at home, you probably won't need it at college. Most dorm rooms are very small, and it can be hard to fit everything you packed into one little space. I have developed a list of essentials that you should bring to college to make your year as stress-free as possible.
Mattress topper
Small fans
Shower caddy
Rolling laundry basket
Extra sheets
Vanity mirror and/or full-size mirror
Power strips
Slippers
Shower shoes
First aid kit
Medicine (in case you get sick)
Command strips and hooks
Full-size trash can
Desk organizer
Under bed storage
Bed skirt
Cleaning supplies
Cooking supplies
Decorative lights
Various decorations to make you feel more at home
These items will better your college experience, so that you don't have to constantly go home to get things that you forgot about. There are plenty of things to be stressed about before move-in day, and don't make being left without your essentials one of them!
Here's what seniors are saying about dorm necessities:
"Bring a full-size trash can because you don't want to take out the trash every day."
- Paige Andrasy
"Wagons are necessary for move-in day!"
- Katelyn Junod
"Get IKEA bags!"
- Gabby Guido
"Cooking supplies"
- Zach Obbink
"A sectional couch"
- Tyler Sallach
"A record player"
- Zaynah Smith
"I'm not dorming but if I were, I would have to bring my sheets and pillow set."
- Kiera McGarvey
"A full-size mirror because I want to check my outfit every day!"
- Estella Deng
