The Polar Plunge is an exhilarating and charitable event where participants take a daring dip into freezing cold water, typically in winter or early spring. This event has grown in popularity over the years, drawing brave individuals who are willing to endure the icy shock of the water, all while raising funds and awareness for various causes. Whether it's a local tradition or a large-scale fundraising event, the Polar Plunge embodies the spirit of adventure, community, and the thrill of embracing the cold for a good cause. It’s a true test of courage and determination, as participants dive into the frigid waters, all in the name of fun, fitness, and charity. 

This year, the Polar Plunge took place on February 20, and it was definitely the true "polar experience" this year with very cold temps. Thirty-one students participated in the event.

In our area, the Polar Plunge dedicates its fundraising towards the Special Olympics. Special Olympics provides people with intellectual and physical disabilities opportunities to realize their potential, develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience joy and friendship. Here at Burrell High school we have a club called Bucco Buddies, and every year the members take a journey to Acrisure Stadium to participate in the frigid jump. 

Mrs Kriley's class is always so excited to have Bucco Buddy guests come down during AR. The students play games, help with assignments, and just hangout. It's always a very supportive and positive environment.
