The PACS sponsored Egg Hunt or Egg-stravaganza got off to a slow start on Monday, but once it caught on, students were "scrambling" to find the eggs that Mr. Venus hid throughout the building. Most were found in classrooms and in the library, but eggs were hidden throughout the school. Mr. Venus hid 22 eggs a day including 2 golden eggs which were an "eggs-traordinary" prize of a $25 gift card. Other prizes included candy, squishies, and chips.
The hunt was from April 7-11. PACS, or the Pittsburgh Area Community Schools, is a an organization that promotes and rewards good attendance at school. They emphasize how showing up leads to not just actual but academic rewards. Students who found eggs were encouraged to stop by and see Mr. Venus in the front office. Students who visited Mr. Venus during the egg hunt, said his office was filled with huge bulk-size bags of plastic eggs!
No "yolking" around - the following stories are very "eggs-hausting", and I'm "whisking" the backlash from these "eggs-cellent" puns.
On Tuesday, Junior Cole Miller found a blue egg with lollipops, and he commented that it "cracked" him up to find one. He found his egg in Mr. Connolly's room. Cole had a "3 peep" when he found 3 additional eggs on Thursday. Cole said he was "eggs-tactic."
Sophomore Brennan Green was the big winner on Tuesday, when he discovered a Golden Egg in Mr. Leghart's room. He had no "eggs-pectations" about his prize until he discovered Mr. Venus "shelled" out a $25 gift card.
Senior Talan Newcomer was disappointed in his find on Wednesday. He is probably one of the few students who can get to an egg on the "highest perch" of a door frame, but he quickly discovered that it was "poached". One investigative reporter later "cracked" the case. The egg was emptied by another student (in the same class) and re-hid for an unsuspecting student to find, so the "yolk's" on Talan. It was not the egg bandit's intention to fool a fellow classmate, but everyone involved "cracked - up" and Talan said, "Omeletting this slide". Talan's "cluck" was redeemed on Thursday when he found two non-poached eggs.
Junior Meadow Keyes also found an egg on Wednesday. It was found in Mr. Diehl's room in a box (not a carton). She said that a group of them were hunting eggs, and she "beat" them to it! It was an "egg-citing" find, and she even shared her Laffy Taffy with her fellow "eggs-plorers". Senior Saleena Hickey was also a lucky bird that day when she discovered an orange egg. When asked about her successful hunt, she replied that she always tries to keep the "sunny side up" when she wants to win a contest.
Thursday brought more students who were successful with their "eggs-ploring". Junior Laney Kaczor "egg-celled" in her search by finding two eggs: one in Mrs. Bollinger's room and another one outside the library. Junior Brooke Clark also found an egg in Mrs. Kariotis' room. Brooke came "out of her shell" to phone Mrs. Shaffer and share her news. Senior Miley Kariotis found herself hunting in Leghart's very popular "hen house" where she was a fox and "eggs-tracted" un huevo azul that was "nested" in a paper towel roll.
It is finally "Fry-day", and the Egg-stravaganza got off to a quick start first period with a find by Junior Michaela Tenney in Ms. Malits' room. Micaela had all the right variables to "crack" the equation and win the prize. Senior Lorin Pavlik-Ware found an egg outside of Mrs. Shaffer's room. She was "egged on" be fellow classmates to climb up to the window perch to retrieve it. Mrs. Shaffer actually spotted the egg first and asked the class if anyone wanted a "quiche" of this? The top egg on Fry-day was Sophomore Patrick Nee. He not only found a Golden Egg, but also a green egg. He won a "Game & Grub" $25 gift card among other amazing prizes. His green egg also "hatched" a rubber duck, which he gifted to Mrs. Shaffer, who exclaimed, "This is eggs-actly what I wanted!"
That’s all, yolks!
PS. Quotes may be (and for the most part are) "eggs-agerated" for "shell shock" value.
