The Bucs Take on the Wildcats
On Friday, September 27 the Burrell Bucs took on the East Allegheny Wildcats a fight for the first win of the season. Both teams are in the Allegheny 7 3A conference. Kickoff started at 7:00 PM in Buccaneer Bay. Brayden Vickers kicked off to open the game. On the first Drive, the Wildcats drove about 50 yards, but the Bucs stopped them on 4th down with a big tackle from Talan Newcomer. The Bucs gave the ball to Trey Coury for almost every play of the first drive and marched down the field 70 yards for a Bucs Touchdown by Stevie Hasson on a 1-yard run. Trey Coury took a run up the middle and ran over defenders for a 2 point conversion which set up the Bucs with 8-0 lead with 1:59 left in the first quarter. Once again the Wildcats got a few first downs, but with 4th and 5 on the Bucs 23 yard line, the Wildcat's running back got slipped up and turned over the ball back to the Bucs. The Bucs gash the Wildcats multiple times down the field with the strong pushes from the offensive line and hard runs from the back Coury. On 1st and 1 the Bucs decide to run the ball with Coury once again, for a 1-yard touchdown, making the score 14-0 with 5:02 left in the first half. The Bucs decide to go for a kick making the score 15-0. The Wildcats received a kickoff, drove down the field, and ended up passing for a 22-yard touchdown to make the game 15-6 with 3:26 left in the half. The Wildcats went for a 2-point conversion and complete it with a pass in the end zone making the score 15-8. The Bucs received the ball and drove down the field once again but got stopped on their last drive in the half, making them take a 26-yard field goal that was missed by kicker Brayden Vickers. This caused the game to end the half as 15 Burrell, 8 East Alleghany. The Bucs received the ball in the first half and drove down the field once again and ended up on Wildcat's 9-yard line. The Bucs now run the ball with running back Coury to the outside for a Burrell Buccaneer 9-yard touchdown, with 6:52 left in the 3rd quarter. The Bucs choose to kick an extra point made by kicker Brayden Vickers making the game 22-8. The Wildcats received the ball from the Bucs and drove the ball down the field and ended up on the Buc's 4-yard line. The Wildcats decide to go in the air and complete the pass in the endzone for a 4-yard touchdown making the game 22-14 with 4:08 left in the 3rd quarter. The Wildcats decide to go for 2 but fail with an incomplete pass. The Bucs receive the ball and drive down the field once again until they reach the 50-yard line and end up fumbling a snap, resulting in the Wildcats getting the ball. The Wildcats drive down the field but end up losing the ball when they throw a pass out-of-bounds on 4th down, giving the Bucs the ball with 6:06 left in the game. The Bucs decided to run all 6 minutes off the clock by dominating the Wildcat's defense, causing the Bucs to win the game 22-14, making them 1-1 in conference play.
