This year, the Bucs sent 3 students, Lily Sassani, Lauren Jablonski, and Zach Bush to the PMEA district band at Laurel Highlands High School by audition. Lily Sassani attended on French horn, Lauren Jablonski on clarinet, and Zach Bush on trumpet. Zach also attended the PMEA jazz and orchestra festivals. In addition to the festivals that have already happened, Zach will continue on to Region band in March and was recently selected to represent Burrell in the PMEA All-State Jazz Ensemble as one of the top 5 trumpet players in our state in April!
There was also the AKV band festival at Deer Lakes High School. Lauren Jablonski, Danika Krajci, Kaitlyn Zanella, Jack Jarerett, Ainsley Campbell, Holden Vernon, Aubrey Turk, and Zach Bush were all selected by audition to attend. Aubrey and Zach played trumpet, Lauren performed this time on the piccolo and flute, Danika, Ainsley, and Kaitlyn each played clarinet, Jack performed on trombone, and Holden performed on baritone saxophone. The students worked with the world-renowned orchestra conductor Karen Hendrikson, who has conducted famous orchestras all over Europe.
The band was also honored to send Zach Bush, Lily Sassani, and Lauren Jablonski alongside Danika Krajci, Logan Shank, and Kaitlyn Zanella to the WCMEA Sr. High County band festival at Yough School District. At this festival, Zach continued on trumpet, as did Lily on French horn, but Lauren changed up her tune with a bass clarinet. Danika and Kaitlyn both performed on clarinet, and Logan Shank on tenor saxophone. Freshmen David and Dean Krajci, Jack Jarrrett, and Holden Vernon also attended the WCMEA Jr. High County band festival this year. David and Jack played baritone, Dean played percussion, and Holden played his baritone saxophone.
