Reading Railroad brings Earth Day to Bon Air
Reading Railroad volunteered at Bon Air on April 8th to perform Reader's Theaters for the elementary students. The club read and acted out the story Earth Day, Birthday! by Maureen Wright to K-3 classrooms. The kids loved the book and the characters that the students in Reading Railroad played. After they read the book and acted it out for the children, they played a game or two of heads up 7 up and four corners. Following their trip to Bon Air, Senior Katelyn Junod commented, ”It was a really fun experience and we all had a lot of fun with the kids, especially the Kindergarteners.” The kids love when the high schoolers come to read the stories to play with them. Another student Senior Bella Harvey-Cowen said, ”My experience was fabulous, I love getting to talk with the kids and playing fun games, and I even love seeing my two younger siblings.” The students from Reading Railroad enjoyed their trip to the elementary school and loved reading to the young students at Bon Air.

Reader's Theaters for Valentine's Day
Reading Railroad volunteered at Bon Air on January 29th to perform Reader's Theaters for the elementary students. The club read and acted out the story Cupig: The Valentine's Day Pig Book by Claire Tattersfield to K-3 classrooms. The kids loved the book and the characters that the students in Reading Railroad played. After they read the book and acted it out to for the children, they played a game or two of Valentine’s Day bingo. Following their trip to Bon Air, Senior Lilly Householder commented, ”It was a really good experience and we all had a lot of fun with the kids, especially my two younger sisters Ellie and Zoe. The kids love when the high schoolers come to read the stories to play with them.” Another student Senior Miley Kariotis said, ”My experience was good, I love getting to interact with the kids and try to inspire reading in a fun way.” The students from Reading Railroad enjoyed their trip to the elementary school, and loved reading to the young students at Bon Air.
