Block B / Students in Action Jr. Club

Our BIS Block B / Students in Action Club aims to develop students who are active, well-rounded, engaged participants of their community.

Independent Service Form

Students who cannot participate in the Students in Action Jr./Block B Trojan Time club may submit a form to verify seven hours of independent service during the last two weeks of each trimester for credit for Students in Action Jr./Block B participation.

Volunteer Opportunities

South Bay Clean Creeks

Grab your oldest clothes and shoes and come join us for a creek clean up. We have a mission to Reclaim, Restore and Revitalize our watershed. Many hands make this work a lighter task. Please join us!

Volunteers are asked to arrive by 8:45 am for a safety presentation. We will be providing trash pick-up tools, trash bags, gloves. Please bring your own water container and we will be happy to fill and refill it! We ask everyone to wear heavy soled shoes, long pants, hat and sunscreen. Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA

Shelter Tales offers children ages 8-12 the opportunity to earn community service hours by reading to shelter dogs at our Lantos Center for Compassion. This enriching opportunity for both youth and adoptable dogs is aimed at boosting humane education, improving reading skills, and soothing dogs in the presence of children. Formerly InnVision Shelter Network, helps homeless families and individuals return to permanent housing and self-sufficiency. LifeMoves offers several holiday volunteering opportunities that allow you to include children of any age. Life Moves

St. Vincent de Paul of San Mateo County

(year round)

Festive Cookies: Please make or buy cookies, saran wrap three per package and decorate festively with decorations. Suggested themes per month: February – Valentines, March- St Patrick’s, April – Easter, May- Memorial Day, June – Father’s Day, July- Summer Sun, August-Back to School, September- Labor Day, October- Halloween, November- Thanksgiving and Christmas Cookies

​Healing Socks: Place inside a pair of new white tube socks : a toothbrush, toothpaste, travel-sized shampoo and dental floss. Wrap with red ribbon and bring to our homeless centers.

Art from the Heart: In our dining room and homeless drop in centers we need festive art posters to celebrate the seasons. Please make some posters together as a family and bring them by.

Our Lady of Angels Brown Bag Sundays

(1st Sun of month)

Brown Bag Sunday: Volunteers make non-perishable bag lunches for weekend distribution at the"B" Street Center of St. Vincent de Paul. We meet in the Lower Hall on the First Sunday of each month. Set-up begins at 8:00 am. Please come and help in this very necessary, wonderful, and fun ministry.

Create your own volunteer event!

The holidays are a great time to round up some friends and spread some cheer! Below are a few ideas to get you started:

Organize a visit to a senior center and make holiday cards, perform carols or play musical instruments for entertainment

Organize a holiday toy drive and donate to a local charity for children

Organize a trash cleanup on a trail, park or any shared open space

Check with organizations you belong to such as church/temple/mosque

Hold a Drive to collect much needed items like Warm Coats

Requirements: In order to qualify for a self organized volunteer event be prepared to have a description of the activity and who benefited from your volunteerism. All volunteer activities must be a minimum of 2 hours.
