Burley Woodhead English Hub is delighted to announce our accredited DfE Letters and Sounds training sessions. These free events can be booked by clicking on the links below
Did you know that reading enjoyment has been reported as more important for children’s educational success than their family’s socio-economic status (OECE, 2002)?
From September 2019, Burley Woodhead English Hub will be hosting a Reading for Pleasure Teacher Reading Group, in association with the Open University and UKLA. These informal, friendly and supportive free events will focus on how to encourage a love of reading in our children by building reading communities within and beyond your school.
Aimed at teachers, support staff and librarians, we would hope that anyone joining us would commit to attending the six free CPD sessions across the course of the year, held at different primary schools across Bradford. We will be exploring the engaging resources on the new OU Research-Rich Pedagogies website and work together to develop our Reading for Pleasure pedagogy, knowledge of children’s literacy and children as readers.
Come and join us! We will be releasing dates of the first sessions soon but if you are interested in being part of the group, please let us know by using the online form below to register your interest.
