Joe Silva began teaching in 2006, and has taught in BISD since 2015. The high school art classes are structured to allow students to develop art skills and techniques, and apply those understanding to the creative art making process. Students will study art history, art appreciation, art vocabulary, careers in art, and develop proficiency in with various media in the concentrations of drawing, painting, sculpting, printmaking, and mixed media.

Joe has studied art in Europe and is a professional sculptor. He has bronze works in the collections of the University of North Texas and Texas Christian University, as well as private collections around the Dallas/Fort Worth region. Joe is also a cartoonist, and has worked for three Texas newspapers. He is a member of the Texas Cartoonists Society, and has lectured at colleges and schools around the state of Texas. Joe is happily married to his wonderful wife Amanda, and is a huge North Texas fan. Go Mean Green!!!
