Welcome to the Agriculture Science Department! Here, students gain hands-on experience, real-world knowledge, and a strong foundation in animal science, agriculture mechanics, and veterinary practices. Whether you're exploring agriculture for the first time or preparing for a career in the industry, there’s something here for everyone.

Advanced Animal Science

A deep dive into the biological and scientific principles of animal systems. This course covers anatomy, physiology, genetics, nutrition, and animal health. Ideal for students interested in pursuing animal-related careers or further studies in veterinary science or agriculture.

Livestock Production

Students learn the fundamentals of managing and raising livestock such as cattle, sheep, goats, and swine. The class focuses on animal selection, nutrition, reproduction, and facilities management, with an emphasis on real-world application and industry standards.

Veterinary Science

Designed for students interested in animal healthcare and veterinary careers. This course covers animal behavior, safety, clinical procedures, diagnostics, and preventative care. Students gain skills that align with veterinary assistant programs and industry certifications.

Small Animal Management

Focuses on the care and management of companion animals such as dogs, cats, rabbits, and other small mammals. Topics include animal handling, health, grooming, nutrition, and the role of pets in society. Great for students interested in pet care or veterinary fields.

Equine Science

This course explores the care, management, and science of horses. Topics include breeds, anatomy, health, behavior, equipment, and the equine industry as a whole. No prior horse experience is necessary—just an interest in learning more about these amazing animals.

Principles of Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources

An introduction to the world of agriculture and related industries. Students explore plant and animal systems, natural resources, ag mechanics, leadership, and career pathways. A great starting point for any student entering the Ag program.

Intro to Welding

This hands-on course introduces students to basic welding and metal fabrication techniques. Safety, equipment use, and entry-level welding skills are emphasized. Ideal for students interested in ag mechanics, trades, or construction-related careers.

🌻 Meet Ashleigh Tucker!

Hey y’all! I’m Ashleigh Tucker, and I’m so excited to be part of this school family! I graduated from Tarleton State University in 2012 (Go Texans! 🤠) with a degree in Agricultural Extension and Industry. I’ve been teaching for 12 years, and the last 4 have been all about my passion—Agriculture Science!

I come from a long line of educators, so teaching is in my roots. I’ve always had a genuine love for school (yes, I was that kid who actually enjoyed learning! ✏️📚). But over the years, I’ve noticed not every student feels the same way. That’s why I’ve made it my mission to help each one find success—whatever their path may be.

When I’m not in the classroom, you’ll usually find me:

🐐 Raising and showing goats with my family.
🏌️‍♀️ Playing golf with my husband.
🎣 Enjoying the outdoors—hunting, fishing, or just soaking it all in.

I’m beyond excited to build meaningful connections with students, spark a love for agriculture, and help them gain the knowledge and life skills they’ll carry far beyond high school. It’s going to be a fun, hands-on, and unforgettable year!
