Enrichment
Welcome to Enrichment at NES
Students identified for the Enrichment Class will be pulled weekly during their computer lab time. Enrichment is an important part of our curriculum that aims to provide additional learning opportunities for your child beyond the regular classroom activities. The goal of enrichment is to foster a deeper understanding of various subjects and to nurture your child's interests and talents.
In our Enrichment program, your child will have the chance to explore a wide range of engaging and challenging activities that go beyond the standard curriculum. These activities will include project-based learning, creative arts, science experiments, critical thinking, problem-solving challenges, and much more.
The benefits of enrichment are numerous. By participating in these activities, your child can:
Develop a love for learning: Enrichment allows students to delve into topics they are passionate about, making learning a fun and rewarding experience.
Strengthen critical thinking skills: Through problem-solving and creative tasks, students will enhance their ability to think critically and analytically.
Cultivate creativity: The Enrichment program encourages imagination and innovation, helping your child develop their creative potential.
Boost self-confidence: As students achieve success in various enrichment activities, they gain confidence in their abilities.
Expand knowledge: Enrichment exposes students to new concepts and subjects that may not be covered in the regular curriculum, broadening their horizons.
Foster social skills: Collaborative activities in the Enrichment program promote teamwork and communication among peers.
*Some fourth and fifth-grade students will also participate in a novel study. Parents will receive more information about these novel studies before each one begins.
What is Project-Based Learning?
Project-Based Learning (PBL) is a model of teaching and learning where students acquire content knowledge and skills in order to answer a driving question based on an authentic problem, need, challenge, or concern.
Project-Based Learning is done collaboratively and within groups, using a variety of skills such as critical thinking, communication, and creativity.
PBL incorporates student voice and choice as well as inquiry.
PBL often involves a community partner and a publicly presented end product.
Project-Based Learning involves an ongoing process of feedback and revision as well as reflection.
