🚀 Future-Focused and Dream-Driven at BES! 🌟
Our 4th and 5th grade enrichment students are reaching for the stars as true Self-Directed Navigators, a key Graduate Profile competency here at Brooks! These bright Bronco minds took the lead in designing powerful vision boards using Canva—exploring their hopes, dreams, and goals across every area of life: their education, future careers, relationships, lifestyles, and how they’ll give back to the community. 💡❤️🌍
With confidence and creativity, they presented their personal visions to fellow students, teachers, and school leaders—demonstrating not only self-awareness but also the courage to lead with purpose. đź§âś¨
We are so proud of these future-ready leaders for charting their course and inspiring us all to think bigger, dream bolder, and lead with heart. đź’« #theBESt #GraduateProfile #SelfDirectedNavigator #ReachForTheStars #VisionaryBroncos

This week, Mrs. Zachery's class dove into the art of teamwork! We explored what it means to be a productive collaborator, both in our classroom and within the fascinating connections of a food web. Together, we discovered how every role—big or small—plays a vital part in creating balance and success!"
Exploring Our Community: A Journey with Mrs. Kimball’s Class
Mrs. Kimball’s class embarked on an exciting journey to explore the vibrant places that make up our community! Through hands-on, authentic learning, students discovered the essential roles of different places, from the library and hospital to the grocery store and police station. They channeled their newfound knowledge into creating an informational masterpiece: a class book titled "Places in Our Community", now proudly displayed in our class library.
But the adventure didn’t stop there! Each student interviewed a professional who works at their chosen location, gaining real-world insights that enriched their understanding. With this deeper knowledge, they added fascinating details to their original writing and designed compelling posters for a class showcase, celebrating “The Best Place in Our Community.”
This project was not only a fun and interactive way to learn—it was a celebration of the community we live in. Our students truly enjoyed this immersive experience, gaining valuable skills in research, writing, and communication along the way!
Both our 1st and 5th graders recently engaged in immersive, real-world learning experiences, tailored to their developmental levels but focused on the same essential skills—exploration, research, and community interaction.
Our first graders hosted guest speakers from various professions, researched careers they were interested in, and engaged with the community to present what they learned. This helped them explore their future aspirations and develop communication and presentation skills at a foundational level.
Building on these early learning experiences, the 5th graders searched for job ads, learned essential life skills like writing checks with real signatures, and culminated their learning by spending a day running an entire simulated city at **JBixTown**. This allowed them to apply problem-solving, financial literacy, and teamwork in a dynamic, real-world setting.
In both cases, students connected their learning to real-life scenarios, interacted with professionals and community members, and developed essential skills that will benefit them as they grow. While the activities were adapted to their grade levels, the focus on authentic learning remained consistent across both grades.
