9th and 10th Grade English
All AMI work is located on Google Classroom.
English 9 and 10, Regular and Pre-AP, are courses designed to explore a variety of literary genres from short stories and drama to poetry and novels, as well as writing narratives, informative, expository, and argumentative pieces. The courses are organized to build reading, writing, vocabulary, speaking, and listening skills.
Homework: Each student needs to read for at least 20 minutes each night. Students will turn in a reading log each Friday to document their time spent reading. Studies show that students who read more have a higher vocabulary. This higher vocabulary translates to a more polished personality as they apply for jobs and colleges.
Grading Policy: Different assignments are weighted differently in the gradebook. Each assignment will be graded as worth 100 points.
- Tests 25%
- Essays 25%
- AR Points 20%
- Quizzes 10%
- Classwork/Homework 10%
- Bell Work 10%
