Empowering our seniors with techonology!
I noticed that many senior citizens in Bukit Gasing were feeling left out during the pandemic. They were missing out on social calls and online interactions with their families. I wanted to do something to help them stay connected, so I launched a series of smartphone classes.
The classes are held every Wednesday from 10am to 12pm at MBPJ Balairaya Seksyen 17/1a. They are free and open to all senior citizens in Bukit Gasing.
The classes cover a variety of topics, including:
How to use a smartphone.
How to make and receive calls.
How to send and receive text messages, location, photos and videos.
How to use social media, check on friends and family members.
How to access online services such as banking, parking and other government services.
I am also subsidizing smartphones for those who cannot afford it. Brand new Nokia and Samsung smartphones are available for RM100.
I am so grateful for the positive response to the smartphone classes. It has been wonderful to see senior citizens learning new skills and staying connected with their loved ones.
If you are a senior citizen in Bukit Gasing and would like to participate in the classes, please walk-in!
I hope to see you there!
I believe that everyone should have access to technology, regardless of their age or income. These smartphone classes are a small step towards bridging the digital gap in Bukit Gasing. I am committed to doing more to help our community stay connected and informed.
