Air pollution is one of the most important health risk factors globally.
Air contains various important pollutants, but in amounts that vary over time and across different locations. The Air Quality Index (AQI) is a numerical scale that aims to provide an overall guide by combining two major pollutants: particulate matter (PM2.5) and ground-level ozone.
This is the AQI in Lewisburg, PA according to US EPA:
Free-to-use mapping tools can help us all visualize how air quality differs between neighborhoods, in different states, or across the world! The three resources below are free to use. Bucknell scientists contribute data to both OpenAQ and PurpleAir.
OpenAQ: Brings together small air sensors and government monitoring sites in one place
PurpleAir: A map using data from one type of sensor widely used by the public
