"Action speaks louder than words" - The live chart shows the comedy and action genres consistently generated the highest revenue compared to other genres from 1980 to 2020. Movies in these genres were particularly popular among audiences and generated significant profits for the movie industry.
When looking at the most popular movie genres by well-known production companies, Action movies, followed closely by Comedy and then Drama movies, lead the industry. Respectively, the leading production companies for said genres are: Warner Bros, Universal Pictures, and Warner Bros again.
On the other end, Romance, Sci-Fi, and Thriller are not as popular, as the well-known production companies like to focus on Action, Comedy, and Drama as aforementioned.
Although which production companies are considered "well-known" may be somewhat subjective, our focus was on those companies that have produced the largest count of movies over this past decade.
