Blair-Taylor Laude System

Beginning with the Class of 2017, the Laude System replaced the former class rank system. The Laude System is a point-based system, utilizing a student’s grade point average after seven semesters and the number of semesters of advanced coursework.

Students will earn one-half to two point per semester for designated advanced courses. A student must successfully complete the course to earn Laude points. Students will be given laude points for classes scheduled for 2nd semester in their senior year. Note * Points may be adjusted if these classes are failed.

Students will be eligible for the Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, or Cum Laude recognition by multiplying their cumulative grade point average at the end of the first semester of their senior year by the total number of advanced classes successfully completed through their four years of high school.

Minimum GPA

To be considered for a Laude award, a student must have a cumulative GPA after first semester senior year of a 3.0 or higher

Laude Score

A student’s Laude Score will be determined by multiplying

1) the student’s cumulative GPA (3.0 minimum) after first semester senior year by

2) the number of “advanced” semester courses (5 minimum) completed in all four years as listed on the Advanced Courses chart.

Score Breaks

There will be no rounding of Laude Scores

• 39+ for Summa Cum Laude
• 28-38.99 for Magna Cum Laude
• 15-27.99 for Cum Laude
