Principal Marc Jong
I'm passionate about PreK-12 education- and the opportunities it provides students. I've lived in Alaska most of my life- and my family plays the most important role in it. I love getting out into the country-hunting, fishing, berry, picking, placer-mining, hiking, snowmachining, four-wheeling and much more. Thank you to the community of Shaktoolik for giving me a warm welcome this year. I'm seeing lots of student progress-and more excited to develop and implement plans for even additional growth. Special Education Teacher Abbie Parker
I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, even though it took me a long time to find my way there in my undergraduate career. I’ve always had a passion for working with kids, especially since I am truly a kid at heart. I grew up in the diverse urban hub of Cincinnati, Ohio and finished up my education in Pennsylvania at a small school specializing in education. I enjoy being outside so it’s been a wonderful experience here in Alaska as I return for my second year of teaching here in Shaktoolik, Alaska.
Secondary Science/Social Studies:
I'm excited to join the community of Shaktoolik this year. I'm from Wyoming, in the northwest corner near beautiful Yellowstone National Park. I have a lot to learn from my students this year about their culture and about teaching. I hope we learn together! I love reading and learning, all things science, playing in the outdoors and being active, board games, and eating good food! Shaktoolik has been such a wonderful place of opportunities already, and I'm so happy to be here.
2nd/3rd Grade Teacher: Stacy Paniptchuk
Hi! I'm Stacey Paniptchuk. I grew up in Shishmaref, Alaska as Stacey Stasenko. :) Silas Paniptchuk moved me to Shaktoolik in September of 2007 when we were married. We now have 4 children! I am currently the 2nd and 3rd grade teacher. I love watching the children grew in so many ways each and every day and every year since I've been a teacher 2013. Besides teaching I love spending time with my family, sewing and subsisting.
ECE Educator: Tiana Nelson
I'm excited to be in Shaktoolik for my second year! I'm from Denver, Colorado and I graduated from The University of Northern Colorado with a BA in Early Childhood Education. This is my second year as the ECE teacher and I am excited for a fun year. I love playing volleyball and soccer, hiking, and spending time with family and friends. Shaktoolik has been such a wonderful place so far and I am looking forward to another year here.
