Quotes:
Carson Steckelberg, for Cross-Country - “I felt that the season went extremely well as a team. On the guys side we didn’t quite hit our goals but we still worked really hard and had improved throughout the season. The girls ran great this year improving at just about every meet putting themselves in the best possible position.”
“In cross-country I liked the fact that everyone goes through the same race, everyone can compare their times and every one experiences same amount of ‘suck,’ it’s one of the only sports where all the guys do the same thing and all the girls do the same thing. I believe that makes our teams so tight.”
“The team dynamics are amazing. All of the guys and girls cheer each other on every level. The girls and guys team were super close and have gotten along all year. All I see when I’m at practice is smiles and people having fun. The cross country team this year is probably one of the closest teams I have ever been apart[sic] of and got to experience in high school.”
Garret Dahlke, for Football - “This season has been really fun. We are seven and two going into the playoffs and hoping to get a couple more wins. We’ve had a really good season in large part to the student sections that have showed up for our games. They’ve been really big and super loud and we love that energy, it really helps us when we play. This season has been super successful. We’ve won seven games which is a school record for sure, and just the second year with seniors we made it to the playoffs and are looking to get a couple playoff wins which will be a first in school history as well.”
Tessa Scott, for Girls Soccer - “Our team is so well connected and close, it’s like a sibling connection. That makes it chaotic.”
“It can be really frustrating at times to be a student athlete but when you’re playing a sport, you have to remember why you’re playing it. We’re an undefeated team, but we have to remember we’re playing because we love the sport.”
Anna Cornwall, for cheer about the Homecoming game - “I think this was a great win. I think a lot of it was the football players, I think a lot of it was the student section and just how everyone was really hype and cheered everyone on. Everyone really came together and showed up to support. We’re having a really great season… and I’m so excited for what’s to come.”
(How does it feel to be a sophomore but the cheer captain of the varsity squad?)
“It was a very big surprise to happen but I am very thankful and appreciative and I’m just glad I get to play my role in the team and their success.”
Soriya Triantis, for Marching band - “This season has been going really well. We have thrown more at everyone as far as music and visual performance goes and they have taken on the challenge and I’m really proud of us and think competition will be super fun.”
“One thing I love is the community of marching band. Even though we only see each other all together twice a week for a couple of months it never [feels] long enough. We all build such strong bonds and become a little too comfortable around each other but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Marching band is more about the people and having fun than a harsh competitive drive.”
“As I graduate I will definitely miss the people the most. I mean there is a reason I hang out in the band room rather than going home for my free periods during the day. Some of these people I have known [since] 5th grade and others I only met this year but regardless we all feel like one big messed up family. If we didn’t have such a great community I wouldn’t have kept going through all of high school and never would have become the Drum Major.”
