From April 7th to the 8th, the Wilson Auditorium was overtaken by some of the brightest and talented minds of both high schools, during Bozeman Night Live, originally known as Hawks Night Live before the opening of Gallatin High school. This two night event featured acts of singing, comedy, instruments and dance, put on by Bozeman Friends of Music and the Wilson. As a student, one can get into Bozeman Night Live by auditioning months ahead of time, and putting in much preparation to perform for a large crowd.
But performing isn’t the only benefit to Bozeman Night Live. A performer or group can also compete for money, by making it into the top five finalists or winning people’s choice, and of course, winning it all. With plenty of reward available, many try out in hopes to perform and possibly win a little something while they’re at it.
The winning act for Friday night was the acapella group, The Secret Chord, performing the song “Hallelujah,” and the winning act for Saturday night was performer Merryn Poole, performing a marimba solo, “Restless.”
However, Bozeman Night Live isn’t exclusively for someone who wants to perform an act. There are Emcees, who narrate and provide humor in between the acts. There are also other ways to contribute: by entering the contest for the poster art, or joining the volunteer stage crew. It’s a night anyone can help with if they want to. A night anyone can enjoy, Bozeman Night Live has something for everyone.
