This past month, on Thursday December 1st, 2022, the Gallatin High School National Honor Society of Secondary Schools inducted 44 new students into their prestigious organization. The National Honor Society, or NHS for short, prides itself on recognizing students who model the four pillars of NHS: Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service. All of these characteristics are sought out by colleges that these juniors and seniors will likely be applying to within the near future.

The induction ceremony took place at the Gallatin High School auditorium with numerous members of the school participating in the event. Club advisor, Jacob Hickey, started out the ceremony by congratulating each of the newly inducted members and welcoming them to the night’s induction ceremony. Other speakers for the night included Gallatin High Principal, Erica Schnee, and the club’s student leaders.

Following the induction ceremony, members, parents, guardians, and friends were invited into the GHS commons to enjoy cookies and drinks to celebrate the momentous achievement of the newly inducted students.

Overall, NHS is known for its exceptional service as each year they have committed 1,000 hours of community service, donated $26,000 to charities, and made many more contributions to the community at large. Many members of the society have been recognized for their unique talents and contributions. Members range from opera singers, to athletes, to astronauts and even a U.S. President.
