Partners Club is a fantastic way to gain a wider scope of your school and your community. The club meets once a week on Fridays, bringing people together with a fun lunchtime and conversation before moving on to the gymnasium to play games. Some students play basketball, others find imagination amongst a variety of toys, and some simply walk around the gym and talk. Overall, Partners Club is a fantastic opportunity to relax after a long week and simply have fun with your friends. Peyton Fulton and Jack Clark, two seniors and members of Partners Club, provided some fantastic insight on the club.
Both students are participating in Special Olympics. Fulton competes in five events: basketball, swimming, golf, track, and skiing; and Clark competes in four: basketball, bowling, track, and swimming. These devoted students have been members of Special Olympics as well as Partners Club for three years, and they’re hoping to finish out their high school career on a high note.
When asked what they enjoyed about Special Olympics, Fulton said, “It’s a fun organization for all kids,” depicting its inclusivity in welcoming kids from all backgrounds, with and without disabilities, into an exciting experience. Clark responded to the question with, “I really respect my friends, and they respect me,” once again showing the comfortable environment Special Olympics presents to students.
The two players summarized specifically what they enjoy Partners Club. Clark said he likes, “Hanging out with his friends during lunchtime,” and Fulton enjoyed the opportunity to, “Play basketball with people I don’t see as often.” Partners Club is a fantastic opportunity to engage with Gallatin High School’s student body and make new friends. Both Clark and Fulton strongly encouraged joining the club!
On the ninth of November, the GHS Special Olympics team headed to Helena to compete in basketball. After having a fantastic time, they came back triumphant and more enthusiastic than ever for new members.
