We are creating a multipurpose greenspace for the benefit of our school and surrounding communities. The space will be created using native plants and environmentally-friendly landscaping which strengthens the local ecosystem.
This concept map is created by OUTDOOR Design Studios with the help of
Chad Rempfer – Owner/Principal, Aly Ross – Landscape Architect, & Johnny Dohner – Landscape Designer
We want to incorporate native plants for better water efficiency and local ecosystem health. Additionally we want this space to be functional as a classroom along with the ability to provide a sanctuary for students, faculty and community members looking for a break.
The plant species we are using are beneficial to the climate. For one, the area created will become a secluded habitat for the ecosystem that has been displaced from construction in surrounding areas. It will also create a habitat for pollinators. By using native plants in the green space that are drought tolerant and well suited to the surrounding environment, we are contributing a small, but impactful effort towards combating climate change. We are hoping to inspire other students around the globe to become more active in there communities and work together to improve the environment, one plant at a time. We hope that other schools will be motivated to create a garden for their community to enjoy as well as a place to imporve the mental health of students.

While creating a garden, our goal is to incorporate native plant species to enrich our school. Our plant list includes native Montana vegetation and pollinators that will thrive without extra water or care. The plants in our garden are drought resistant and tolerant to our environment, which will lesson the negative impacts on our community ecosystem. Having a garden full of beautiful plants that were originally from our state, will allow native animal species to thrive and live in a safe and healthy environment. Incorporating a pollinator garden will let native insects and animals come to find food and pollinate our plants.
