The Dangers of Vaping
Hello Parents,
Bryan Middle/High School wanted to reach out to you to discuss the topic of Vaping.
As you are probably aware, Vaping rates have drastically increased among youth and teens in the recent year(s). According to a report run by WTOL Channel 11 Toledo News there has been a 700% increase in student Vaping incidents since the 2016-2017 school year.
This is a staggering number and a data point that can't be ignored. So in response we wanted to take the opportunity to educate our parents/guardians about the dangers of vaping and the facts associated with this trend. It is our hope that you can then join us in helping to educate your student about the risk factors associated with Vaping products.
Please review the information below to help educate yourself on this topic and then we urge you to speak with your student about this information.
Data Trends
The 2019 Williams County Health Needs Assessment indicates the following about youth vaping:
1.) 30% of Williams County students in grades 6-12 have stated they have used a Vapor product
2.) 50% of Williams County teens age 17 or older stated they have used a Vapor product
3.) According to the Williams County Health Needs Assessment the following was stated by adults:
"Thirty-two percent (32%) of adults did not know if e-cigarette vapor was harmful."
