GREEN MOUNTAIN YOUTH ORCHESTRA INFORMATION:

Parents and children are cordially invited to join the Green Mountain Youth Orchestra, located in Bennington, VT. Rehearsals will be held every Wednesday evening in the Mount Anthony Middle School Band Room.

All levels are welcome with 1+ years of experience. We have three different ensembles that will accommodate the varying abilities, instruments and skills of our members.

The Green Mountain Youth Orchestra ensembles are:

Repertory String Ensemble: A beginner string ensemble working on developing proper technique, ensemble playing, and musicality. Entering students should have requisite foundational skills established (such as basic posture, right and left hand setup, rudimentary note-reading abilities).

Senior String Ensemble: An intermediate-advanced string ensemble which continues to nurture proper technique while delving into standard and contemporary repertoire. Students in Senior String Ensemble also perform with the Symphonic Orchestra.

Symphonic Orchestra: A full orchestra which welcomes string, woodwind, brass and percussion students. We develop musicality and ensemble skills while working on a diverse range of orchestral repertoire.

We will rehearse every Wednesday evening at the MAU Middle School band room. The rehearsal times will be:

Repertory String Ensemble 5:30-6:15pm

Senior String Ensemble 6:15-6:45pm

Symphonic Orchestra 6:45-8:00pm

Our website can be found at: www.gmyo.org

Any questions you have concerning the ensembles or if you need assistance deciding which ensemble is appropriate for your child, please contact me via e-mail or phone at 617-281-7900.

Thank you for your time and attention. I hope to see you and your child in rehearsal!

Sincerely,

Patrick O'Connell

Green Mountain Youth Orchestra Director
