Curriculum ~
Brownwood ISD has adopted Savvas 3 Cheers for Pre-K and Frog Street Pre-K curriculum resources. These resources are 100% compliant and align to all 10 Developmental domains in the Texas Pre-K Guidelines.
Student Progress Monitoring
All Pre-K students are monitored at minimum through Circle Progress Monitoring at BOY, MOY, and EOY in the 5 required domains. Additions to the 5 Required Domains are allowable.
Teacher Qualifications ~
Pre-K Teachers must be appropriately certified AND have at least one additional qualification to meet the HQPK teacher requirement.
Option #2 Pathway for additional qualification includes annual completion of 15 hours per year of coaching/mentoring hours and 15 hours of ECE-specific professional development. Please use the links below for compliance documentation.
For the 2025-2026 school year, PD certificates should be dated June 2025 through May 2026.
Teacher to Student Ratio ~
Brownwood ISD maintains a student to teacher ratio of no more than 11:1 in Pre-K classrooms through the assignment of a teacher assistant to every Pre-K classroom.
Family Engagement Plan ~
Brownwood ISD's Pre-K Family Engagement Plan will be annually reviewed & updated and posted to the district website by November 1.
Program Evaluation
Using the PK Self Assessment Tool provided by TEA, Brownwood ISD will internally evaluate its PK program annually to ensure compliance in all 6 HQPK requirements. Results from internal evaluation will be used to develop priorities and plans for continuous improvement. A summary report of this assessment will be shared with families.
