Academic and Career Planning

The School District of Brown Deer has created a systematic process so that each and every student in 6th to 12th grade has an Academic and Career Plan (ACP).

Academic and Career Planning (ACP) “is a student-driven, adult-supported process in which students create and cultivate their own unique and information-based visions for post secondary success, obtained through self- exploration, career exploration, and the development of career management and planning skills.” (dpi.wi.gov/acp)

There are four stages to successful Academic and Career Planning. This is an ongoing formalized plan and process that involves students set goals based on academic, personal, and career interests. ACP is intended to equip students and their families with the tools necessary to make informed decisions about post secondary career and academic choices with the support of adult mentors that include teachers, counselors, and parents/guardians.
