Today our clown bodies, our clown ensembles, get names and wonders.
Everyone trickles into the classroom and juggles and talks together or alone enjoying the music. Joe sets up his piano with some help. We do the usual, partnering up and discussing what we're working on, some people split off to walk and dance around the classroom. Most importantly, we start the class with a sit and check-in, for the first time in a while. Theres some people missing today, and our ensemble will change a bit.
We also talk about next year. Next year, we'll be focusing on generating work with more structure and sharing. This container that we have, this class and ensemble, is open to all work as long as we have the spaces to work in. Building muscularity in sharing, demystifying sharing, is what we'll be practicing at.
After enough talking, we take a walk. We start to navigate the negative space in between the bodies, playing with the music, taking in new information as the songs change, and looking for and to the game. When we put our noses on, we keep our eyes open and continue to saturate the game. Then, we look for our clown voices. We've looked and touched, but our clown bodies haven't said anything. So Mycah asks each clown their name.
In a line, many songs get invented. Our clown voices appear as we wonder about things. And as each clown gets named, we learn about them. In the line is a lover of dresses, a Pie-eater, a foodie, a singer, a dancer, lots of trouble, an expert, and a businessowner. How do these morons move? Through tension, exploration, and curiosity, the clowns find their step and sound.
Next week we will build proposals based on the cooking that we did today. What we did today is build guideposts. The connection and desire in this class is gorgeous.
