A Pile of Wood

As I approached the piano this morning, I noticed that someone had moved all the wooden pieces that had been stacked inside the piano and placed them on the ground beside the instrument. Perhaps they wanted to get closer access to the strings? Seeing all the planks collected together on the ground reveals how much the piano is changing and falling into pieces. Before they were assembled into piano form, these pieces were once just a stack of lumber. At the end of its life, the piano is turning back into a pile of wood.
Days in place: 1256
Weather: partly sunny, 81°F
Someone removed all the wooden pieces from the piano and placed them in a neat pile on the ground.
Most of the strings are now broken and some even stick up out of the piano.
A view of the keyboard and the three missing keys
Leaves and other debris have nesteld into the spaces between pins in the pin block.
A crack in the veener along the side of the piano
The wound bass strings are broken and rusty, changed by the humidity, rain, and snow throughout the seasons.
At first glance, the broken strings blend in perfectly with the twigs.
