Leo Major, a recent Brown graduate ('24) and saxophone player, visited the piano with a friend at the end of February. Here are the reflections from his visit:
"I just got back from Providence, where I got a chance to take these photos of the piano and play a little bit with a friend of mine. Most of the keys were not functioning anymore- it was a warm day following a period of cold weather and snow, so I assume the melted snow expanded the wood of the keys. However, there were about 6 keys that did work. My friend pointed out that most of the keys that worked were C# and D#, so maybe there's something special physically about them. One note made a percussive snare drum sound with an impressively precise response time. Later in the day I walked by again, and a French horn player was sitting in front of the piano in the grove, practicing in the sunlight."
