Carolyn Lau, a PhD student in American Studies, and I visited the piano on a warm spring day. Though it continues to decompose, the piano has provided a home for new life - tiny sprouts have popped up in the keyboard and on the lid of the piano!

Weather: sunny and warm, 57°F
Testing out the keys.
A tiny sprout has started growing in the keyboard.
The pedals are almost completely buried in the dirt.
The cracks in the lid reveal layers of very thin wood sheets.
This long-forgotten pair of glasses is still hanging around the piano.
Some sprouts have started growing on top of the piano lid.
