Summer Rain and Rust

I visited the piano for the first time this summer since traveling away from campus at the end of May. With an unusually wet summer and a lot of rainfall – nearly 6 inches more rain in June and July than the average for those two months! – the piano is showing signs of warping and rust, effects of the extended exposure to environmental moisture.
Days in place: 185
Weather: clear skies and sunny, 81°F
Exploring the piano
Spiders have made a home under the lid.
Many of the black keys have come unglued from the keyboard.
An unusually wet summer has caused dramatic warping of the wood and rusting of the strings.
