Brown University Math Circle

An after school math circle session at Blackstone Valley Prep middle school

The Brown University Math Circle (BUMC) is a collaborative, non-competitive enrichment program for public and charter school students in Rhode Island. The goal of the BUMC is to help traditionally underrepresented students develop their appreciation for and understanding of math through creative problem-solving activities.

The BUMC is taught by professors and graduate students. Each session focuses on a different topic, such as Graph Theory or Cryptography, in order to expose students to a variety of exciting math. We believe that regardless of whether participants go on to math-based careers, having a positive relationship to math will empower them in school and beyond.
