We are the French Theory Reading Group at Brown and Harvard. Since 2021 we have hosted seminars, lectures, and conversations on French Theory, broadly defined. Meetings are open to graduate students at either school in any discipline. Meetings are jointly organized by graduate students in Brown's Department of French & Francophone Studies and Harvard's Department of Romance Languages & Literatures.
Every semester we invite a guest reader to lead a session on a text of their choosing. Past guest readers include Audrey Wasser (Miami University), Peter Szendy (Brown University), Liesl Yamaguchi (University of California, Berkeley), Elizabeth Weed (Pembroke Center), and Vinciane Despret (Université de Liège).
To get in touch or join our listerv, email ftrg (at) brown (dot) edu. Meetings are held at 84 Prospect St, Providence, RI, and via Zoom.
