12 hour shifts at Brown EMS
Helpful information:
Day shifts begin at 0700 (7am.) Night shifts begin at 1900 (7pm.) Arrive ten minutes before the start of the shift to meet the crew as soon as possible and conduct a truck check.
If the ambulance is not in the station, then you will need to wait for them to return from an emergency call. If you have no access to the building, please wait in a safe location. Notify DPS at 863-3322 that you are waiting to meet the crew and provide them with a cell number.
While on shift, you must remain with a crew member at all times since you will not be carrying a radio.
Please adhere to our Ride Along dress code:
Dark blue or black khaki style pants, no jeans (we have extra pants)
Navy blue, gray or white t-shirt, no logos or writing
Sturdy shoes, or sneakers if you don’t have appropriate shoes
Pants must be belted and shirts tucked in.
Jewelry is discouraged for safety reasons.
Bring books, snacks, personal items, and meal money as needed.
Wear a watch and carry a pen.
As a Ride Along, you are not officially permitted to conduct patient care, but you may assist the crew if they direct you to help and if you are comfortable doing so.
Please maintain confidentiality at all times. Riding Along is a privilege that we ask you to enjoy in a professional manner.
