This November 5th Brophy will host a "Day of Democracy" in which traditional classes will be put on pause in favor of Brophy turning its attention toward election day with a series of programming ending at 12:00pm.
Instead of class, we are going to engage you in a variety of ways that you directly demonstrate an act of Democracy.
BROPHY'S ELECTORAL COLLEGE & MOCK ELECTION
On November 5th Brophy is hosting a Mock Election for all of campus. We have created an electoral college via zip code weighted proportionality by student population. It's as close as you can get to the actual voting process without being 18!
In 2010, researchers from Notre Dame and Harvard University found that people who are prompted to work out a plan for how they’ll vote — like scheduling a time to vote and deciding how they would get to their polling place — were more likely to vote than similar voters who weren’t pushed to do so.
MAKE DEMOCRACY AN ACT: Have you asked your voting age eligible family members how they specifically plan to vote?

“Each of us has a moral obligation to stand up, speak up and speak out. When you see something that is not right, you must say something. You must do something. Democracy is not a state. It is an act, and each generation must do its part to help build what we called the Beloved Community, a nation and world society at peace with itself”
-Former Congressman John Lewis
