10-13-21 BSEA Breast Cancer Awareness Walk and SHSAT Assessment Information

Please find the following letter from Ms. Wilson regarding the BSEA Breast Cancer Awareness Walk being held on October 29, 2021. Additionally, please find information for 8th grade families regarding the Specialize High Schools Admissions Test.

10-8-21 Emergency Broadband Benefit

All families with a student enrolled in a DOE school or program are eligible for this benefit. Families can confirm their eligibility, apply for the program, and find participating broadband providers via the USAC website. There are two types of benefits available to eligible households:

  • Monthly Benefit: A discount of up to $50/month for broadband service, equipment, and device rentals; or

  • One-time Device Discount: A one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer (with a co-payment of $10-$50), where available.

Families can visit the FCC’s EBB webpage and view this FAQ to learn more about the EBB program. Translated materials are available via the following links: Spanish, Arabic, Amharic, Burmese, Chinese, French, Haitian Creole, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Somali, Tagalog, and Vietnamese.

8-31-21 Parent and Guardian Back to School Forums (Brooklyn on September 1st)

Parents and guardians can register for Back to School forums led by executive superintendents, superintendents and other DOE staff in order to have the information that you need to confidently send your child to school for in-person learning. You can register and submit questions using this form. Please note that registration is not required to attend. You can also access a livestream feed at the time of the event. You can also find the flyer for this event here: English, Arabic, Bengali, French, and Spanish.

The Brooklyn forum will also have Spanish, Mandarin, and Arabic translation on September 1st.

8-2-21 Operoo Welcome Email

Last week you should have received an email from Operoo welcoming you back or asking you to complete the registration for your account. Operoo is the system that we use to manage all forms including Blue Cards, Media Release forms, and permission slips.

Please complete an updated Blue Card, Media Release form in Operoo. You can complete the Lunch Form online.
