Please note that all summer learning activities are OPTIONAL.
While the Middle School fully intends to assess the actual learning gap created by the immediate implementation of remote learning due to COVID-19, and adjust our curriculum and instruction as necessary moving forward, we understand that many students and families are looking forward to summer learning activities that may help keep students engaged and productive during an unprecedented summer. Please note that the Middle School’s official stance is that we encourage students and families to take as much time off as is necessary to allow your child(ren) to rest, recuperate, and enjoy as much of summer as they are safely able to within CDC guidelines. The global pandemic, whether resulting in immediate loss for a family or not, has been and continues to be a traumatic experience for all of us, and our children especially need to be given the time, space, and support to process this complex experience. Please know that your family has our permission to do none of the following activities with your child(ren) or, if you’d prefer, you can engage in all of the activities. If you do institute some summer learning at home, please be mindful that children benefit from clear expectations and a set routine. Setting up clear days and times where school work is expected will be beneficial to your child’s overall experience, and we recommend giving them at least four days off from school work per week. If your family chooses to engage with these materials, we hope you find them fruitful!Please note that all summer learning activities are OPTIONAL.
