Elaine Acevedo, President
Elaine is a School Counselor at a small high school in Bushwick, Brooklyn. An educator for the past 18 years, her journey as a teacher’s assistant working with students with disabilities led her to become a teacher for eight years. Helping others is her career and passion, and she is currently in her ninth year of school counseling, a position she finds extremely rewarding. Elaine has been an active member in the learning process of her two daughters as education is a top priority in her life. Her motivation stems from witnessing the impact on our children of having a community that collaborates in their best interests. Her education, experience and background will ensure her ability to succeed as a PTA officer, and she is looking forward to joining forces with the teachers, administrators and families to have an outstanding school year.
Josette Trotman-Pitt, Vice-President
Josette is the mother of two boys and has more than two decades of legal and business experience in the private and public sectors. As a first-generation immigrant, she is a believer in education and its worth. She is grateful that her sons have the opportunity to attend BCA, as it is not only a progressive school but also has an incredible group of parents, students and teachers that make up a community that is passionate, compassionate and dynamic. Over the years, Josette has volunteered much of her time with various organizations to help wherever needed and is ready, willing and able to assist the PTA to make this year successful.
Michelle Lee, Treasurer
Michelle is currently an Information Governance Consultant with a background in accounting. She has been an active member of the PTA since her son started at BCA in 2016. She's looking forward to working with the PTA members to make this year a great success.
Grace White, Secretary
Grace (aka Denzel’s mom) was born in Kingston, Jamaica, where she learned the merits of community involvement and positive thinking. A journalist by profession, she’s a firm believer in the importance of communication in the transformation process. Grace is committed to ensuring that students at BCA optimize the educational opportunities offered by the school and is eagerly anticipating collaborating with PTA members to make this a memorable and productive year.
