Math: the universal language

Welcome to MATH at WMS.

I look forward to a wonderful year of learning. My goal for you is not only to greatly increase your knowledge of mathematics, but also to promote cooperative learning. Please take a moment and read the course description under the Curriculum Overview tab.

Students are expected to develop a curious mathematical mind, and develop mastery in all topics presented throughout the year. This means that only knowing how to do a problem is unacceptable. Students must also be able to describe each concept and be able to explain its relevance.

Students are expected to come prepared every day.

Homework will be posted on the website daily, under the Homework tab.

A little bit about myself; my name is Joe Walsh and this is my 14th year teaching math. I was in New Haven, CT. for the past four years, and prior to that I was in Chicago. Yes, I am a CUBS fan. I have three daughters, ages 17,15, and 11, so I am quite familiar with the middle school years. I love what I do and I look forward to a very productive year.
