The focus of my research is on the psychology of education; principally achievement motivation and outcomes in A-level students including links to their identity and issues of social inequalities.
The focus of my research is on the psychology of education; principally achievement motivation and outcomes in A-level students including links to their identity and issues of social inequalities.
I have established links with local schools and given talks on the associations between A-levels, motivation and identity and radio interviews which focus on these topic areas following the release of A-level results.

I also take an active part in an annual outreach opportunity which is provided to local schools where a session on academic writing and referencing is given to Sixth Form students undertaking the Extended Project Qualification. Here they undertake an independent project on an area of their choice, outside of their A-level curriculum. One to one support is also given to these students in a session attended by colleagues in the School of Education. This makes a contribution to both academic knowledge exchange and also possibilities for widening participation.
