I have been interested in criminology and forensic science since my childhood, and wanted to use my Personal Project as a way to discern if it could be a possible future career path. I decided to do this by creating a murder-mystery style board game that required my classmates to utilize their social and communication skills to solve a variety of objectives that all connected to an overarching, complex storyline that they would slowly piece together as the game progressed. The research that I did in regard to my project allowed me to truly see what it would be like to be a forensic investigator, and ultimately make the decision of if I would like to pursue it in the future.
All of the documents I made that were included in my game → Players used these to solve the murder mystery.
Me starting to physically make my Personal Project → Tea staining the newspaper to give it an old worn out effect.
Me starting to conceptualize my Personal Project → Making the newspaper that players analyzed.
Me starting to piece together the evidence folders → Putting everything in place and ensuring that everything is coherent and that the class will be able to solve the mystery.
Me continuing to work on the newspaper → Brainstorming ways to add in subtle hints to help the players piece together the storyline.
My teachers playing through a rough draft of my game before I presented it to my classmates → Allowed me to fix any errors or mistakes.
