For my Personal Project, I decided to make a map for the video game Team Fortress 2. I learned how to create shapes, group objects, create game rules, and even format skyboxes. My goal was to make a map that is fun, fair, and balanced that I could play with my friends. I decided to do this project because I love video games and I thought that it would be a fun way to increase my appreciation for the people who make them for a living.
This is the wall of sticky notes that I used to organize the tasks on the product that I still needed to do. Done (left), doing (middle), to do (right)
This is an early picture of the map in the program that I used to make it. The program is kinda easy to understand once you’ve spent enough time with it.
This is a picture of me while I was testing the map to make sure that all the changes I made were correct and everything was in order. The screen on the left is the game, while the screen on the right is the program I was using to make the map.
This is a picture of my notes that I wrote while making the map. Each one is in chronological order, with the responses below them. I have spent lots of time trying to figure out what all of it means.
This is a picture of the final design of the map in the program used to make it. All the different colours correspond to a different group; each tiny square is a light source, and the giant cluster of lines in the centre is the main point of the map.
This is a picture of the main indoor area of the map in game. This is the room I am most proud of since it is, in my opinion, the best looking room. This room, and also the whole building, is mirrored on the other side of the map.
This picture shows the main area of the map from on top of one of the side buildings. From this angle, you have a view of both entrance doors, both ways to get on to the centre platform, and the main point.
This picture is taken from the red side of the map. It is meant to show the main area from a place that a person playing the map would be able to get to. Everything that can be seen from the last picture can be seen in this one as well.
These pictures are from the main spawn points of the map. One from the red side and one from the blue side. Both of these photos are meant to show the difference between the 2 sides and the similarities with the map being mirrored.
