My goal is to help your child develop lasting abilities through their individual disabilities by fostering communication skills across the school community. Effective communication is a human right and should be accessible and achievable for all. (ASHA, 2023).
Hello! I’m the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for Brimfield CUSD309. I’ve been an SLP since 1997 working in hospitals, rehab clinics, nursing homes and early intervention. I have been at Brimfield since 2009 and I see students at BGS, BHS, St. Mary's of Kickapoo, and Pre-School age or homeschooled children who live in our district.
I am actively involved at the local, state, and national level with other SLPs and am always looking for ways to keep learning and advocating for individuals with communication and swallowing disorders.
I am a Fellow of the Illinois Speech-Language-Hearing Association and I am currently the President of the Peoria Area Speech-Language-Hearing Association (PASHA). I am credentialed by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and licensed to practice in Illinois.
Please use the links to the right to access more information related to speech and language development as well as parent resources.
I am married to Mr. Moon and together we have two adult children who were raised in Brimfield. We enjoy the outdoors, boating, traveling to visit our kids, playing cards and finding a great restaurant!
About Speech and Language Therapy
Your child may receive speech and language services to address goals according to their IEP or intervention needs.
Typically your child will receive therapy 2-3 times weekly if found eligible for these services. Services are provided in the classroom, in the therapy room, in a small group, individually, or on consultation.
Bright Futures students have a weekly language and phonemic awareness lesson provided in the classroom by the SLP.
