About Mr. McKown:

After getting my bachelor's degree from Bradley University and a master's degree from Lewis University, I began my teaching career in 2005.  As both a BGS and BHS graduate, I am extremely grateful to be teaching in the community I grew up in.  I taught junior high math for 18 years (10 of those years at Brimfield), and made the switch to junior high science starting with the 2024-2025 school year.  In addition to teaching at Brimfield, I am also the BHS varsity girls basketball coach and BGS assistant softball coach.  I love teaching/coaching and truly value the relationships I've built with the staff, students, and athletes while here.

My wife, Katie, is a 3rd grade teacher at Hickory Grove Elementary in the  Dunlap school district.  We have three children who all attend school at Brimfield; Macie, Ty, and Hope.  My family loves sports.  Whether coaching, playing, or spectating, you will most likely find us at a ball field or gym somewhere.
