In May 2025, our school received $1.187 million to transform into a state-recognized community school. This exciting opportunity allows us to create a thriving environment where students, families, and staff are supported with the programs, resources, and partnerships they need to succeed.
A community school is more than a place to learn. It’s a hub where students, families, and staff have access to academic support, social-emotional resources, health services, and community partnerships. We work together to ensure every student thrives in and out of the classroom.
The California Community Schools Framework
The Four Pillars:
Integrated Student Supports: Supports to meet students’ academic, social, and emotional needs. Examples: tutoring, counseling, RULER SEL program, eye exams and eyeglasses for all of our students.
Extended Learning Time & Opportunities: Programs beyond the regular school day that enrich learning. Examples: After School All Stars and after-school clubs
Family & Community Engagement: Families are active partners in student learning and well-being. Examples: family workshops, newsletters, community events, councils
Collaborative Leadership & Practices: Staff and community work together to guide school decisions. Examples: Community School Advisory Council, SSC, ELAC
Our Community School Implementation Goals:
Goal 1: Instruction is powerful, culturally proficient, relevant, and informed by the school community
Goal 2: The school culture is racially just, restorative, and informed by the school community
Goal 3: Families are Actively Engaged as Partners
Goal 4: Community Schools Implementation has aligned systems, strong leadership, and clear impact
How You Can Get Involved:
Join our Community School Advisory Council!! The Community School Advisory Council brings together families, staff, students, and community partners to collaborate on making our school stronger and more supportive for everyone. This group helps guide the community school strategy, ensuring our programs and partnerships reflect the needs, strengths, and voices of our school community.
How to Participate: All families are welcome! Whether you want to listen, share ideas, or join the council, your presence and perspective are valued. Contact Community School Manager Yadira Sanchez for more information.
