Reaching International Students in the Bay Area
We have been reaching university students with Christ since 2001. We have had the opportunity to launch movements on college campuses in overseas and in the U.S. We are now reaching students from around the world at Stanford, UC Berkeley, and the 50 other universities in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The Need
Every year, the top students from around the world come to study at Stanford, UC Berkeley, and the other universities in the San Francisco Bay Area. There are 500,000 students studying at 50 universities in the area.
The Opportunity
Many of these students come from the hardest to reach areas in the world. 95% of those who have not heard the gospel come from China, India, and the Middle East (an area called the 10/40 window). By God's grace this is the same region that sends the highest number of international students to the United States. What if we could reach these students with Christ while they are here?
Winning Students to Christ
Through creative outreaches, weekly dinners, Bible studies, and individual gospel conversations we share the gospel with students from around the world. Students like Josh (pictured in blue with his Stanford Bible study) have come to know the Lord.
Building Students in their Faith
We build students in their faith by teachnig them how to study the Bible, Pray, and walk with Jesus. Students like Sofy from Italy that studied in Berkeley have developed a foundation to walk with God for a lifetime.
Sending Students to the World
Our prayer is that we can send these students back to their home countries as ambassadors for Christ. Students like Henry from Taiwan helped launch a movement of students on their campus and are now back to their home countries as missionaries to their own people.
Our Calling
Romans 10:14 says, "How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard?"
The Lord has called us to share the gospel with those who have never heard. For us that meant reaching students in our hometown of St Louis, serving as missionaries in East Asia, and five years ago moving to the San Francisco Bay Area to reach international students. It has been a sacrifice for us to follow God's call for our life, but it is incredible to see His work in us and through us to reach students with Christ.
Working Together
Bridges International has no central funds for paying salaries and ministry expenses. Like many other mission organizations, Bridges depends upon the consistent financial support of concerned individuals and churches. These contributions are used for salary, insurance, benefits, and ministry expenses.
We must find a team of partners who will join with us in monthly support. Would you like to join with us?
