House System

In 2013 we launched a brand new House system, the students put forward their ideas for House names and the best ones were voted on. The ‘Bird of Prey’ theme which included Hawk, Eagle, Falcon and Kestrel was the overall winner.

Each house is made up of ten tutor groups spanning from Year 7 – 11 which are overseen by a student House Captain.

The house system allows every student and member of staff to feel a sense of belonging by becoming a member of Hawk, Falcon, Eagle or Kestrel house. By being a member of the house, students and staff are encouraged to show team spirit as all of the houses thrive on the ethos of:

"It's the taking part that counts"

Each student wears a coloured tie as part of their uniform that represents which house they are in.

There are many house events throughout the year from all areas of school life. This blend ensures that everyone has the opportunity to represent their house in something that they enjoy or are good at. For example, house events include; various sporting activities, Ready Steady Cook, Spelling Bee and various quizzes throughout the year.

All students have the opportunity to earn Merits for their house and these feed into the overall results for the much converted House Cup at the end of the academic year.
